The Project

What This Backyard Needed

An aging pool with a plain plaster finish and a cracked, worn concrete deck — ready for a real transformation, not just a patch.

This Tustin backyard pool had reached the point where a simple resurfacing wasn't going to cut it. The old plaster had faded to a flat, uniform color, the concrete deck was cracked and worn, and the whole space felt dated next to the rest of the home. The homeowners wanted a full pool remodel — a new finish with real personality, a deck that matched the quality of the rest of the yard, and equipment that wouldn't need attention again for years.

We handled the entire project as one coordinated job: full demo of the old deck and interior finish, a rebuilt shell, all-new plumbing and Jandy equipment, real Angeles paver decking, Cordova Creme travertine coping, new NPT Gneiss Lapis Blue waterline tile with a Fujiwa Glasstel 11 trim accent, and a custom StoneScapes Aqua Cool mini pebble finish — upgraded with crushed abalone shell and blue glass mixed into the aggregate for a finish that catches the light differently than a standard pebble job.

FAQ

Tustin Pool Remodel — Common Questions

How much does a full pool remodel cost in Tustin or Orange County?
It depends heavily on scope — a project like this one bundles a new StoneScapes pebble finish, a full paver deck, coping, tile, and an equipment replacement, which prices very differently than a resurface-only job. We give every homeowner a free, itemized estimate broken out by scope, not a generic ballpark.
How long does a full pool remodel like this take, start to finish?
Most full remodels of this size run several weeks from demo through the final finish — demo, plumbing and equipment, decking, and tile all happen before the new pebble finish goes on. After that, the finish itself needs about 28 days to fully cure before swimming, even though the pool looks finished right away.
What is Fujiwa Glasstel 11 tile?
Despite the name, Fujiwa Glasstel 11 is a porcelain trim tile, not glass. We used it as an accent alongside the NPT Gneiss Lapis Blue porcelain waterline tile on this project, where it adds a contrasting line between the waterline tile and the travertine coping.
How do I know if I need a full pool remodel or just resurfacing?
If the only real problem is the finish — staining, roughness, or worn plaster — resurfacing on its own is usually enough. A full remodel like this Tustin job makes sense when more than the surface is dated: cracked or failing tile, old coping, a deck that no longer matches, or a shape you want changed. A good rule of thumb — if you would still be unhappy looking at the pool after a fresh finish went in, the honest answer is a remodel. See more real ACE remodels.

Thinking about adding something while the pool is already open? Baja steps, shallowing, a spa, waterfalls, deck jets and trim tile are all far easier during a remodel than after one. Read the pool upgrades guide →
