A dated Tustin backyard rebuilt from the deck in: StoneScapes Aqua Cool mini pebble, travertine coping, new tile, an Angeles paver deck and all-new Jandy equipment. Watch the before and after.
Pool transformation in Tustin · 1:53
This Tustin backyard needed more than a new surface. The old plaster had faded to a flat color, the concrete deck was cracked and worn, and the whole space felt dated next to the rest of the home.
It was handled as one coordinated job: demo of the old deck and interior finish, new plumbing and Jandy equipment, an Angeles Courtyard paver deck, Cordova Creme travertine coping, NPT Gneiss Lapis Blue waterline tile with a Fujiwa Glasstel 11 porcelain trim accent, and a StoneScapes Aqua Cool mini pebble finish.
The finish was upgraded with crushed abalone shell and blue glass mixed into the aggregate, so it catches the light differently than a standard pebble finish. Mini pebble lasts roughly twice as long as white plaster, 15 to 20+ years, and its smaller, finer pebble stays comfortable underfoot.
Coping sits between the tile line and the deck, so it cannot be replaced on its own: new coping means new tile beneath it. With the coping coming out, renewing the deck in the same window was the efficient sequence. The pool was already drained and the area already staged, so nothing new had to be cut back into later.
