A Fullerton pool rebuilt around a Baja step big enough for dinner, with a water feature, Tropics Blue mini pebble, Fujiwa Glasstel porcelain tile and all-new equipment.
Dinner on the Baja step · 0:48
The centerpiece of this remodel is a large Baja step: a wide, shallow shelf in the pool. This one was built big enough that the homeowners can set up and have dinner on it, with their feet in the water.
A water feature was added at the same time. Features like these are best planned during a remodel, while the pool is drained and the shell is open, rather than added later.
Every major piece of equipment was replaced: pump, filter, heater and a salt system. The pool light was changed to a new LED light.
The finish is StoneScapes Tropics Blue mini pebble, the most cost-efficient option in the pebble family and smoother underfoot than larger pebble finishes, which matters on a step people sit and stand on. The tile is Glasstel from Fujiwa, which, despite the name, is a porcelain tile rather than glass.

The best time to add one is during a remodel, while the pool is already drained.
