Diagnostic & Service Call

Something Wrong With Your Pool? We Find It, Then We Fix It.

You know something is wrong. You do not necessarily know what. That is exactly what a pool equipment diagnostic is for.

Plenty of pool problems announce themselves clearly — a pump that will not start, a light that is out. Plenty of others do not. The water will not clear, the heater quits halfway through, a breaker trips every few days and nobody can say why. Those are the calls where guessing gets expensive, because the part people replace first is usually not the part that failed.

What a diagnostic visit costs

An on-site diagnostic visit is $150, and it is credited toward the work if you go ahead with the repair.

Before you book one: most estimates are put together remotely from a few clear photos, often confirmed the same day. If you can photograph the equipment pad and whatever the display is showing, start there — it is faster and it costs nothing.

Most diagnostics start here, at the equipment pad — whatever the symptom was.

What we check, by what you are seeing

What you are seeingWhere we start
The pump will not prime, or runs loudLid O-ring, suction-side air leak, impeller, valve positions
The heater lights then shuts downFilter pressure, pump speed, flow rate, pressure switch, scale in the exchanger
A breaker or GFCI keeps trippingThe pool light first, then the pump and heater circuits
Water will not clear upFilter media, run time, flow, and the chemistry before any of it
Filter pressure climbing fastCartridge or grid condition, the gauge itself, and what the pump is doing
Salt system reading faultsCell condition and scale, flow switch, salt level, board output
Something leaks and nobody knows whereThe equipment pad, unions, valves and visible plumbing

If the fault turns out to sit with one piece of equipment, each of those has its own page: pool pump repair, pool heater repair, pool filter repair, pool salt system repair, pool automation repair and pool light repair.

How a pool equipment diagnostic actually runs

  • We start at the pad, not the symptom. The loudest fault is often downstream of the real one. A heater that quits mid-cycle is usually reporting a filter or flow problem rather than a heater problem.
  • Everything gets run. Pump through its speeds, heater through a full cycle, light, salt cell output, automation calling each piece of equipment in turn.
  • Pressure, flow and electrical get measured. Not guessed at. A gauge that reads wrong hides every other fault behind it.
  • The technician tells you what they found, in plain terms. What failed, what caused it, what it takes to fix, and what can wait. If a repair is the better call than a replacement we will say so.

What this is not

  • This is not a pre-purchase or escrow inspection. We do not produce inspection reports for property sales. If you need a pool inspected for a real estate transaction, you want a licensed pool inspector, and that is not what we do.
  • It is not a maintenance or pool cleaning visit. We are a repair and remodel contractor. A diagnostic visit is about finding a fault and fixing it, not weekly service.
  • It is often not needed at all. Most estimates are put together remotely from a few clear photos, frequently the same day. Send pictures before you book anything.

Why the whole pad gets looked at

Pool equipment is a system, and the pieces fail each other. A restricted filter starves the heater. A pump set too slow for efficiency drops below the flow the heater needs to stay lit. A failing pool light is the most common reason a GFCI keeps tripping, and people blame the heater or the pump for weeks before anyone checks it.

That is why a diagnostic that only looks at the thing you called about tends to produce a second call a month later. Everything on the equipment pad gets run.

Questions we get asked

What does a pool equipment diagnostic cost?
An on-site diagnostic visit is $150, and it is credited toward the work if you go ahead. Most of the time you will not need one — send clear photos first and we can usually tell you what you are looking at remotely, often the same day.
How is this different from a pool inspection?
A pool inspection, in the usual sense, is a pre-purchase report for a property sale. That is not what we do. A diagnostic visit is for a pool you already own with something wrong on it: we find the fault and we fix it.
Do you send a technician who works on all brands?
Yes. Most of our repair calls are on Pentair, Hayward, Jandy and other brands that were already on the pad when we got there, so the technician who comes out works across all of them. We are an authorized Jandy warranty service center and we repair the rest — pool heater, pool pump, filter, salt system, automation and pool light work all come from the same crew.
What if more than one thing is wrong?
That is common, and it is the reason the whole pad gets looked at rather than just the part you called about. You get one written, itemized estimate covering everything found, with a clear view of what needs doing now and what can wait.
Can you tell me what is wrong over the phone?
Often, yes — and photos help more than a description. Call or text (909) 577-5274 and send pictures of the equipment pad and whatever the display is showing.

Tell us what it is doing.

Send photos of the equipment pad and we will tell you what you are looking at — usually without anyone needing to come out.
