Do you repair pool pumps in Brea?

Yes — we repair and replace pool pumps in Brea year round. Standalone work, no remodel involved. We size the pump to the lift and the pipe run on your lot, not to the square footage of the pool.

Local Knowledge

Pool Pumps in Brea

Brea is two different pool jobs depending on where the house is. South of Imperial Highway the tracts are older and flat, and the pumps there have usually just reached the end of a long life. Up in Olinda Ranch, Blackstone and out toward Carbon Canyon the lots are cut into the hill, and the equipment pad often sits well above or well below the waterline — occasionally both on the same property.

That elevation is not a detail, it is the whole sizing question. It changes total dynamic head, which is how hard the pump actually has to work, and a pump chosen off pool size alone will underperform on a hillside lot no matter what the box promises. Long runs between the pool and the pad add to it. We measure the lift and the run before quoting, which is why our number sometimes differs from one you were given over the phone.

Symptoms and Fixes

Signs a Brea pump is on its way out

What you are seeing

  • Losing prime, or air collecting in the basket — the classic hillside symptom when the pad sits above the water
  • A screaming or grinding bearing note that gets worse the longer it runs
  • Water leaking from the housing, or from behind the motor at the shaft seal
  • Tripping the breaker, or humming without ever starting
  • Weak flow at the returns and a pool that will not clear on long run times
  • A single-speed pump still in service, quietly costing more every month than the replacement would

What we install and repair

We install Pentair IntelliFlo VSF and Jandy FloPro variable-speed pumps, and we still service the Hayward Super Pump and older Pentair WhisperFlo units that are running fine and do not need replacing yet. On the hillside lots we size for the real lift and run.

  • Pentair IntelliFlo VSF and SuperFlo VS variable-speed pumps
  • Jandy FloPro variable-speed pumps, with a three-year warranty on Jandy equipment we install as an authorized Jandy service provider
  • Motor, seal, impeller and basket-lid repairs where a full replacement is not warranted
  • Equipment-pad re-plumbing when the pipe, not the pump, is the restriction

What Customers Said

About pump work

“Just had Alec out again today, to replace a pump this time, and as usual he was knowledgeable, honest, and did great work. They are Jandy certified, so I get 3 years warranty when they replace my old Jandy equipment with a new one.”

Yelp review

“My pump started to leak at the housing and needed to be repaired fast. What surprised me was how detailed the quote was, and they were able to schedule a service visit the next day. Alec came by ahead of schedule.”

FAQ

Common Questions

Do you work on the hillside lots in Olinda Ranch and Carbon Canyon?
Yes, and they are the ones worth measuring properly. When the equipment pad sits at a real elevation difference from the pool, the pump has to overcome that lift as well as the pipe run. A pump specified from pool size alone will disappoint on a lot like that. We check the lift and the run on site before we quote one.
My pump keeps losing prime. Is the pump bad?
Not necessarily, and on a Brea hillside lot it often is not. Loss of prime is usually air getting in on the suction side — a lid o-ring, a union, a valve stem or a cracked fitting — and a pad above the waterline is less forgiving of all of them. Replacing the pump without finding the leak gets you a new pump that also loses prime.
Do you charge a trip fee to come out to Brea?
No. We do not add travel or trip fees to any city we serve. What we quote for the work is what you pay.
Can you replace a pump without doing a whole remodel?
Yes. Equipment is standalone work for us year round and always has been. Most of our pump calls have no remodel attached to them at all.
Are you licensed and insured?
Yes. Licensed California pool contractor, CSLB License #1075061, bonded and insured, and BBB Accredited with an A+ rating. Working on Orange County pools since 2014.
